Why Do I Always Have Cloudy Aquarium Water?

Q: I religiously clean my aquarium once a week doing only 15% water change at a time. Lately, I’ve noticed the water condition turning rather cloudy earlier than a month ago. Why is this so?

Although you’re actually changing the water correctly, but there could be a few reasons why your aquarium is turning cloudy.

Possible Reasons to Cloudy Aquarium Water:

  • Your fish(es)’ activities are stirring up the gravel in your tank.
  • The cloudiness could also be caused by debris thrown from an unwashed filter that you switched on again after changing the water.
  • New food that you’ve introduced.
  • You might have mistakenly over-changed the water (maybe twice weekly instead of once).

If your problem persists, you can get some fish tank water clarifier solutions from aquarium store to help clear the water.
